Sandbelt is an abrasive product commonly used for grinding and polishing surfaces of materials such as metal, wood, and plastic. The following are the steps for making sand belts:
1. Material selection: Sandbelts usually use canvas or polyester film as the substrate, and then apply abrasive on the surface of the substrate. Choosing the appropriate substrate and abrasive type is an important factor in producing high-quality abrasive belts.
2. Coating abrasive: After mixing the abrasive with the adhesive, evenly apply it on the surface of the substrate. Common abrasives include alumina, silicon carbide, Yttrium(III) oxide, etc. Common adhesives include phenolic resin, epoxy resin, etc.
3. Drying: After the coating is completed, place the sand tape in a ventilated drying room to ensure that the coating is completely dry and cured. The drying time varies depending on different materials and conditions.
4. Cutting: Place the dry sand belt on the cutting machine for cutting, and cut it into different lengths and widths of sand belts as needed.
5. Joint: If longer sand belts need to be made, multiple sand belts can be connected through joints. Joints are usually bonded with materials such as adhesive or Hot-melt adhesive.
6. Packaging: Finally, the finished sand tape is packaged, usually in plastic bags or paper boxes to keep it dry and clean.
In short, the production of abrasive belts requires multiple steps such as material selection, abrasive coating, drying, cutting, jointing, and packaging. The production process requires maintaining a clean and dry environment to ensure the quality and performance of the sand belt.
