Classification of sandpaper backing materials

1. Buckyback base

Fabric backing is one of the most versatile backing materials, available in various types, such as cotton, polyester or polyester cotton, blends, etc. The main advantage is its excellent tear resistance. In addition to ensuring elasticity, the fabric back base can also withstand very high pressure loads and has a long service life.

2. Paper backed substrate

Paper is one of the oldest and most important materials in human history, and also plays an auxiliary role in industrial grinding. The elasticity of paper is extremely low, slightly lighter than that of a cloth based backing, but the flatness of paper is extremely high. Paper has different weight levels, and based on their weight, the paper backing is called A-paper to F-paper (light to heavy). The lighter the weight, the more flexible the carrier becomes. In practical operation, light sandpaper is more suitable for hand grinding and surface grinding, while heavy sandpaper is only suitable for surface grinding using machines. And because the paper backing is not easy to stretch, it is an ideal choice for long and wide sand belts. Due to their very smooth flatness, they operate smoothly and with low noise.
